Veles & the Wolfmother

These pyrographs are two of my favorite projects. Each is inspired by Slavic mythology—Veles, the god of the underworld, also represents the earth, its waters, and livestock. Here I imagined him as a druidic shepherd, one with the land. The Wolfmother is loosely inspired by the legends of wolf-skinned shapeshifters, similar to the Celtic selkie myths. Here, she exists within the liminal spaces of life and death, growth and decay.

These guardians hang on our bedroom wall, protecting us while we sleep.
